A presentation from Clive Fletcher-Wood OBE on Rail Safety.

Clive Fletcher-Wood has been asked to repeat the talk that he gave to the NW Area in October 2011, which was a blend of his talks entitled ‘How the keep the railway running and stay out of gaol‘ and ‘What to do when the Inspector calls‘. This session will last for about 2 hours.

Clive’s presentation will cover a summary of various rail accidents and incidents such as Hatfield, Great Heck, Ladbroke Grove, and the inquiries set up to review some of these accidents. There will also be a focus on gross negligence, the act of corporate manslaughter and corporate homicide. And an overview of the Health and Safety at Work Act and in particular section 37.

Clive’s wealth of knowledge and experience on this the subject will make this event both interesting and informative.

CLIVE FLETCHER-WOOD OBE.
Clive’s second career, as a lawyer, concentrated on railway-related work. He specialised in operational safety, but also dealt with contractual disputes within the industry, including Network Change. He is a tutor for the IRO in three subjects and a Hearing Chair for the Access Disputes Committee.

The event will start at 1745hrs with an informal gathering, which will aid a prompt start at 1800hrs.
