A presentation by Chris Dwyer, Fmr. Rail Replacement Team, Virgin Trains

Time: 17:30 for Light Refreshments, 18:00 Start

Engineering work is always a controversial subject, we need to maintain a safe railway but at the same time we have a greater than ever demand to run trains.

What happens when we cannot run trains or divert them?

A vastly experienced man, Chris will talk to us about planning and implementation of planned rail replacement both during and after the West Coast modernization (two vastly different projects in manpower and budget). He will cover the differing strategies of the TOCs, the joint TOC processes and conflicts and highlight the key issues of emergency rail replacement. Finally, he will give an unofficial insight into the things that didn’t go as well as hoped! This promises to be a very fascinating talk on a subject we are all probably very unfamiliar with.
