Event Details
When: Wednesday, 16 October 2013, 18:00 (for 18:30) – 20:30
Where: The Rain Bar, 80 Great Bridgewater Street, Manchester, M1 5JG
Meeting Point: Board Room (second floor)
Speaker: David Mapp, Commercial Director, Association of Train Operating Companies
Privatisation of the railways brought many changes, not least to the money-go-round between farepayers, local and central Government, and train operators. Some things didn’t change but remain as incomprehensible as ever, like the way fares are set and the way that the receipts are then allocated to individual routes. Some things are changing fast though, in particular the way that passengers pay their fares and the form that their tickets then take. David will explain how the system works and how it is being adapted to meet changing customer requirements and technological innovations.
