Event Details

The venue for this year’s IRO North West Area Friends & Family Day Out will be the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Signalling School, within the National Railway Museum (NRM) in York. Members and their friends and families will be able to observe and operate the extensive model railway layout, which celebrated  its centenary in 2013 and was still being used to train signallers until the 1990s.

During our visit, hosted by Phil Graham, there will be a description of basic Signalling Principles, and the opportunity to put them to use on the layout. Those attending will also be able to visit the main Display Areas within the NRM, to see the many historic exhibits. It is the intention to conclude our visit with a meal, before departing York.

Please note, a parent or guardian must accompany all children.

This is a free to attend event. Please arrive promptly for a 10:00 start.
