Event Details

On the 20th October 2012, a UK Railtours passenger excursion will make a rare visit to Fiddlers ferry Power Station. The Education Centre Manager at the Power Station, Gemma Davies, has invited members of the IRO to visit the power station site to see the Railtours train. She has extended the same invitation to the Widnes 8D Association. In addition, for people who bring full PPE, there may be an opportunity to visit the power station itself.

Gemma does not know exact times but anticipates the train to arrive around lunchtime / early afternoon.

If you are interested, please contact Iain King at iain.king@networkrail.co.uk to book a place. Gemma will need visitor’s names in advance.

For a full power station visit, the list of PPE required at the last visit was:

  • ear defenders
  • eye goggles
  • gloves

DIY / household level of qulity is acceptable for these:

  • boiler suit type overalls (must be cloth and not paper). “Overalls” means protective covering for body, arms & legs so separate trousers and jacket are OK
