Event Details

CORE is recognised within the rail industry as Australasia’s leading quality technical rail conference.  Keynote speakers, papers, and poster presentations will explore and explain the latest knowledge in railway technology and management practices.

The conference theme “Rail Transport for a Vital Economy” highlights technological and other industry developments which are increasing and enhancing the effectiveness of rail in supporting economic development and wellbeing around the world – promoting a global economy which reflects the vital importance of rail transport technology in achieving efficient use of our wealth and resources.

CORE is presented on a non-commercial basis by the Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA), a Technical Society of Engineers Australia (EA) and Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ).  For those familiar with past CORE events, the traditional streams of high-quality presentations, networking events, and wide-ranging trade exhibition will be accompanied by new innovations enhancing the conference experience.

Centrally located, with direct international flights, Adelaide plays a key role in Australia’s rail network.  The city is headquarters to major track owners and operators, as well as being the base for the new national rail regulator.  A major revitalisation of the Adelaide suburban network will provide first hand opportunities to see and learn about the latest technologies being adopted.

A variety of informative technical tours will be available both before and after the conference, including an extended visit to northern parts of the State.  A full partner’s program, visiting local Adelaide highlights, will be available on the two main conference days.

The weather in South Australia in early May should be benign, providing a wonderful opportunity to add an extended break to destinations such as the Barossa Valley, Flinders Ranges, or Kangaroo Island.

So make the commitment now – to visit Adelaide and come to CORE in May 2014.  It will be an experience.
